The movie follows the story of Clyde Cowan (Jamie Foxx), a district attorney who helps convict a serial killer, Frank (Gerard Butler). However, during the trial, the judge fails to follow proper procedure, which results in the conviction being overturned on appeal. Frank is released from prison and begins to terrorize Clyde and his family. When the justice system fails to hold Frank accountable, Clyde takes matters into his own hands, seeking revenge and justice for the victims and their families.
