Many ISPs throttle eMule traffic. Go to and set "Protocol Obfuscation" to "Enabled" (not just automatic). This masks your traffic as standard HTTPS, preventing ISP throttling.

To start using Kad, you usually need a nodes.dat file or must be connected to a regular eD2k server first to "bootstrap" (find your first few contacts). emule kad server list
